This was my car book I only read it when I went to appointments ext so it was always disjointed to me finally I sat and read the last 8 chapters and realized I really had not missed a thing

I used this book as a purely lunch break read The time it took me to finish the 250 pages says a lot about how much I enjoyed it I think The premise was great and some of the characters were interesting but it was just so dry for a murder mystery

Vanished is a mystery novel set in a secluded town of England in the middle of its Seafaring Days celebration when everyone dresses up and masuerade as gypsies and famous sailors of the high seas While the town members of Blackpool seem flamboyant yet kind at first we eventually find that even Blackpool isn’t safe from crime The two main characters Michael and Molly are a married couple that get thrown into a murder case when Michael’s best friend Dylan is accused of being a murderer Luckily the two have some experience under their belts from a murder case in the evident previous book so proving their friend’s innocence won’t be as difficult However it takes than experience to settle the mystery behind the murder Michael Molly and a few friends and allies will have to carefully research about supposedly cursed gold and the famous tunnel system that lies beneath the town that have only become busy with spelunkers upon the festival and promise of treasure While the mystery and story itself are easy to get wrapped into the main thing the book lacks are solid characters It’s easy to learn who constantly recurring characters are but there are too many background characters introduced too uickly to get a good grasp of who’s who Some barely even make a change in the story which is sort of sad considering they had some potential Character issues aside Vanished is still a good book if you’re looking for something to pass the time with

I thought the book was intriguing the characters in it had some great depth I found it a little confusing at first to what the plot was but the further I got into it the better it got As the story itself goes was good and I would definitely read it again Some of the ways it was worded took me a bit to figure out what it meant but overall the writing is very nice I would recommend this book to people who like a good mystery The amount of characters that just came in and out in the book I just could not remember who everyone was in the beginning It’s a really good and well written story but it is lacking some not really backstory but background to it all I usually prefer to read historical fiction but I don’t mind a good mystery once and awhile I think when you read it a second time it would make sense only because of how jumbled up some of it is It gives me that feeling that he wanted to just get so much information in such a small amount of space which it is 246 pages of actual story but leads me to say he was just cramming in so much in such little space Overall 3 stars
