Bloody Brilliant I wasn't sure about getting this one as I barely remembered Yvonne but I'd heard it was very good so decided to get it and I'm so glad I did This was hilarious Yvonne was perfect She was heartless and so strong and a bad guy turned into an anti hero Incredibly competent and very funny full of great moments The difference between Torchwood and Doctor who were great There was a lot of lovely moments for local politics Torchwood was always about the people and this was very character driven It wasn't all comedy either and there were some horror and doom and the way people cope and ignore all that Definitely recommended

For the first time the audio series breaks out of the time period and core characters of the TV series with a story focussing on Yvonne Hartman and set in the immediate aftermath of the Doctor Who episode Rose Hartman of course is the head of Torchwood One in London and only appears in one episode having been killed off before the Torchwood TV series even startedThe plot is to be honest fairly slight concerning the murder of Cardiff mayoral candidates and doesn't really make too much sense It's for that reason that I'm knocking this down to three stars but there's still a lot to like in this releaseFor one there's the portrayal of Hartman herself expanding on her one guest appearance We see a very driven and ruthless character arguably efficient than many of the main ones in the actual TV series Her personality and background are fleshed out here and are really the main focus of the play Which is as well because the other main characters aren't really all that believable something that's lampshaded at a couple of pointsThere are also some nice touches of humour mainly at Hartman's expense In particular there's a clear sense of a Londoner's stereotypical attitude towards any part of the UK that isn't London and of the corresponding Welsh attitude to the capital This is done brilliantly and there are plenty of moments that you would never see on DW in keeping with the different tone of this seriesIf you like strong character pieces with a dash of humour and can put aside the weakness of the underlying plot you'll probably like this uite a lot Honestly I enjoyed it too and the three stars might be a little stingy but this series has set a high standard so far For one thing I'm glad that there are stories featuring Hartman later in the series because the strength of the character is really what's good here

Now admittedly this was one I wasn't too interested but I decided to give it a listen anyway and to be honest it was incredible One Rule is filled with adult humour and darkness It's a fun story with a political side to it but it isn't without it's darker side Yvonne Hartman was really good in this I found her a particularly interesting character with being a anti hero but absolutely ruthless I'd recommend this to anyone who loves Torchwood 1010

uite enjoyable plot isn't the most complicated but the drama here is around how Yvonne reacts to the plot compared to how our typical protagonists would react Yvonne is done well here supported well by the other cast and I think captures the essence of the character we see on TV driven ruthless but all for ueen and Country

Always wanted to know about Yvonne Hartman since the second series of Doctor Who and this was perfect Her character the parts were she gets angry but controls herself the parts were she would be underestimated because of her politeness and proves everyone wrong was captured brilliantly especially her gray moralityThe story was told very smoothly with a perfect balance between the characters the plot and the scenes and atmosphereReally liked it hope we get stories about Yvonne Hartman and by Joseph Lidster

Yvonne Hartman isn't necessarily one of my favorite characters on the show but this was decent for what it was It takes place about the time that the Doctor Who revival began so there's that
