Cooper's Folly PDF/EPUB µ Paperback

Cooper's Folly Cooper’s Folly By Mary StrandIf I had to compare this novel author Strand’s first to anything I would pick a huge box of chocolates An open one From the start you get that either this was written by an attorney or someone with a cleverly intelligent sense of humor Both are totally spot on This is sort of a romance kind of a journey book and completely filled with heart And two kids I would suggest this be tucked into a beach bag loaded onto an e reader and defiantly considered for a summer book club selection There are many surprises and a few twists and who in the world doesn’t like a happy ending Or is it a beginning? One of the many things I learned while uickly devouring this read was that most attorneys spend a great deal of their billable time daydreaming of what they would really like to be doing Maybe this is due to the grueling demands of that particular field Or as Strand’s character Cooper Meredith imagines; “Sources at the firm said Meredith took off a black wingtip and bashed a Bulova clock on his desk while shouting ‘I never wanted to be a lawyer Mom I wanted to run a waterski shop on Lake Minnetonka’ ” You learn early on that Cooper and his Mom have a strange a case for therapy if you ask me relationship Regardless off the tale zooms That’s one of the aspects of Strand’s writing I got such a kick out of There is no waiting around for things to happen you move from scene to scene at break neck speed and the whirlwind of activity is never ending You’re probably wondering how a successful Minneapolis Strand’s present hometown originally from Eau Claire attorney goes from being just that to what the story is really about a man nanny who used to be a high power attorney I’m not telling Let’s just say that Cooper takes a dare that led him to a fancy schmancy house with two kids in need of his nanny dom and Molly Perrell the single mom who needs so much Like all good stories there are peaks and hollows yet in the case of this story there are luxurious swimming pools and a lady next door with a thong that closely resembles floss Brooke the thong lady plays an interesting part in Strand’s tale and I won’t spill how a long hose and not enough clothing get Cooper into some hot water Within this mad cap caper of chasing four year old twins snarky neighbors and sticky countertops is a refreshing reminder of what we need a heck of a lot hope Cooper also learns through the eyes of his wards what he was missing in his previous life of torts and contracts “Emma and Alec reminded him of too many things he’d left behind a magical world filled with tufts of grass and ribbons of sky the tickle of a summer breeze the playful caress of a stream as it babbled over little hands the deadly purpose of a spider as it captured a fly” This is where Strand soars Through her motherattorney eyes there is magic My only regret while hitting that final page was that I wanted and what could be better than that? If you’re an attorney consider becoming a nanny If staying awake until 4 am is any indication this book just keeps you turning pages A fun story with a couple of adorably precocious kids a guy in way over his head and a strong and a super stressed out business woman Somehow Cooper's final career choice did seem odd though not that it was a bad thing to want but it didn't seem to fit his hankering for the challenge of figuring things out that he voiced after spending his days keeping up with the twins As one other reviewer pointed out I think things got resolved kind of too uickly in the end but overall this was a fun book to read with a hero that I really liked Mary Strand formulates an engaging romance within real life circumstances in her story Cooper’s Folly Corporate lawyer Cooper Meredith is unfulfilled with his job at Smith and Garrison and takes a foolish step He uits his profitable job one day and pulls out the classifieds ads where his finger arbitrarily lands on an opening for a nanny babysitting retail buyer Molly Perrell’s four year old twins Alec and Emma His folly becomes the remedy for his dissatisfying existence and he becomes the friend lover and lifetime mate of Molly Perrell which she had wished for but never foundIt’s a test of wills between Cooper and Molly as they each have diametrically opposing methods of looking after children Molly is a no nonsense businesswoman who likes everything orderly and precisely executed to her instructions Cooper however can handle life as it comes including when it becomes a mess He accepts the mishaps admits to being inapt as a nanny apologizes for it and works to fix the situation He is like no man Molly has ever met before and her devotion to her family as a caregiver and breadwinner brings out another side to Cooper His desire to be her partner in lifeThe read has a slow tempo moving at a real life pace The dialogue is witty and gives readers a sense of the individual personalities including that of secondary characters like Molly’s boss Jed Parker The reader is given bits and pieces about him a rather secretive type who is later discovered to have allowed his mistress to manipulate him and steal money from the company The story is kept moving through such external factors like Parker and his mistress who work to bring Cooper and Molly closer together as she turns to him for help and support and he gives it willingly I enjoyed this first time author The story is fun and simple but there were a few missed opportunities I really liked Cooper and Molly Molly was strong and smart but at times came across as stupid instead of insecure The dilemia Molly had with work and Jed felt rushed It could have added to the story with just a little information and if she would have let Cooper help The end felt rushed also I would have like to see Cooper and Molly confess their love together instead of him blurting it out If this is the authors debut novel I can't wait to see what she does in the future Worth reading this uick witty read Mary's debut book is filled with laughs and tears This story will make for a great beach read It's a uick read and you'll be cheering for Molly and Cooper to get along and find happiness together As for Cooper you'll be praying he survives the twins As a prior nanny I don't know if I would've survived No really they're not that bad Light uick read with a fun twist on the usual nanny falls for employer premise This time the man is the nanny a lawyer fed up with the demands of his job and his overbearing boss In need of a recharge and reassessment of his life's course Cooper impulsively takes a job as a nanny for a divorced woman with two children Molly his new boss is a high strung woman experiencing her own work related drama But together the two adjust to a foreign but not altogether unpleasant situation Breezy reading and fun humor throughout Sweet romance that brings the sizzle I loved Cooper and his approach to life uit light funny readI enjoy the thought of having a male nanny that is in mid l I feel crisis It was a refreshing take from a woman s prospective He may not be Mr Mom but he could be Mr PerfectOne burned
